Performance Is In The Bag By Maclen My first impression of the Targus Corporate Traveler Notebook Case is that it is designed and constructed very well. The idea behind the Corporate Traveler's design is that it zips down across the center to let the case open like a clam shell, isolating your notebook on one side and all your accessories and files on the other. This allows the case to pass through TSA's scanner without having to remove the laptop from the case. I travel quite a bit with my notebook, and this feature really comes in handy when I'm fumbling through the airport's check-in process. The ballistic nylon construction and Targus' SafePort Air-Cushion padding system provide great protection for my 15" Powerbook. The padding is also adjustable, which allows for a snug fit for smaller notebooks. This case features heavy-duty zippers with metal pulls and a very comfortable non-slip shoulder strap that has metal clips as well. Additionally, the carrying handles are wrapped in leather so the case feels very comfortable in my hands. There are a lot of compartments in this case which afford more than enough space for my laptop's accessories and personal items when I travel. There is an accordion-type section that can easily house quite a bit of paperwork. (I was able to fit a book and a newspaper, along with some other paperwork.) Next to it is a small, zipped pocket for smaller items like a phone, PDA or an MP3 player. There is a zip-down compartment (Targus calls it a workstation) that has pen loops, a business card holder, and a clip for keys. There are also smaller compartments with velcro flaps for other accessories, and there's even a small zipped compartment for loose change. On the outside of the case is a fairly large pocket that can hold things that require immediately access, like a boarding pass or a passport. Overall, I think this is a great notebook case. It is very well-constructed and even though it's fairly light, it feels very sturdy. Aside from traveling, I use this case on a daily basis, transporting my laptop to and from work. It replaces a Kensington Laptop BackPack, and although Targus' case is similar in size, it holds quite a bit more than the backpack. It is made of nylon, fits up to 15.4 widescreen laptops and has features that are standard like a file folder storage compartment and a trolley strap (quite handy when traveling) in a black and elegant design. It also has a zip down workstation with enough space where you can fit many (if not all) the accessories you may have for your laptop. What makes this product different is the "zip-thru" design, an enhancement in which the case opens right by the middle isolating the laptop from the accessories. This comes handy when traveling, as when passing through the airports x-ray scanning areas you will no longer need to remove the computer from the case, if you've been there you know how it is. Well, that's the competitive advantage this case has over others. Another nice thing it has is what they call the "Safeport" air cushion system, these are polyurethane pillows that surround the laptop protecting it from both side and vertical impacts. This is a huge upgrade from my old laptop case and I am very happy with it. Keep in mind that the main advantages it offers are for people who constantly travel and pass through customs in the airports. By Jennifer Fretwell I was looking for a sleeve to protect my Macbook and this Case Logic sleeve fit the bill nicely at a reasonable price. I wanted some extra padding and protection from scratches when I placed the laptop in a tote bag. This sleeve works great! I like that it is reversible. Also, it is a perfect fit for the Macbook and is thick and will provide a good bit of cushioning from minor impacts. Neoprene is waterproof which is also nice in case it rains or you spill something on your bag. One feature that I really appreciated is that there is NO ZIPPER! A lot of sleeves have zippers that are not shielded well from the laptop and can actually scratch your precious laptop. The flap folds down securely without any zipper. If you are looking for something with shoulder straps or extra space to carry adapters and other accessories you need a laptop bag or case and not a sleeve. I put my new Toshiba R830-S8330 (13.3" very thin laptop) in it and there was some extra wiggle room. I'm not sure I like that...as I did want something that would really hug my laptop, but once I zipped the case closed it feel like it wouldn't be moving *too* much. It's pretty light...considering its design and all. Based on what it looks like I thought it'd be a lot heavier. What surprised me was the exterior of the case. It looks quite different in real life than it did in the picture in my opinion. In real life, it's a very smooth polyurethane surface (although I don't really know if that's what it's made of because the entire packaging was in Japanese). It feels like plastic, yet doesn't feel like plastic, and I'm not sure I really like the overall look. Maybe I was really looking for a more linen/tougher exterior, but supposedly this thing is waterproof so I'll just hold onto it for now and see how things go...although I don't know how waterproof it can be with a zipper. The front pocket is pretty useless, unless you want to put a thin flashdrive in it. I have a tiny little mouse I travel with and an equally thin and light portable external drive, and there's no way they'd fit without making the entire case bulky- which is fine though since this thing is meant to really be shoved into backpack and bags and not so much be carried all on its own (hence no handle on this thing). As a graduate student living apart from my husband, I travel a LOT with my laptop so I really wanted something that would give me peace of mind as I shuttle my laptop from place to place. I was really excited about this case when I did my initial research on laptop cases/sleeves. Everything over the internet gave it such rave reviews. I really want to give this 5 stars, but it's not as fabulous in person as it seemed online. I am giving 4 stars though because based on my assessment so far it does seem like it would protect my laptop. My new Toshiba laptop is about an inch thick and 13.3" and weighs about 3 lbs, so I was really looking for something that would protect it considering how fragile the laptop feels (although it's supposed to be pretty tough being made of a magnesium alloy casing). I think if I were to drop my laptop I would feel a lot more secure about it if it were in this case. It's definitely thinner than some of those Neoprene laptop cases (which I really find to be bulky). I got the white because I thought it looked better than the black (the black with the grey piping looked kind of ugly in my opinion) but I was wary of how easily it would stain. Sure enough, I slid the laptop in the case into my book bag between a black binder and a plastic folder, and it got some black streaks on it immediately. It easily wiped off though with my fingers and a little water...I worry about how easily it will stain now though. Might try scotch guarding it or something. Some people have complained about a smell associated with the material the case is made of, and honestly I have no idea what they're talking about. I don't smell a thing, maybe my sense of smell isn't as strong as other people's, but that's definitely not an issue. Overall, I would recommend this case if you're really looking for something that's different from what you would buy in a Target/Best Buy/chain store. You can't find this Shinza stuff anywhere online, so if you want something that will really protect your laptop and aesthetics aren't your thing then get this case.**UPDATE** I tried the laptop case out for about a week and decided to return it. By Amazonian Consumer This is a well-made but relatively inexpensive bag for a laptop PC. It is so light that I can barely feel its weight, but it still has sufficient padding to protect its contents against bumps during everyday use. This is NOT the kind of case with zippers that can be pulled further to the left and right sides when you open the bag. In other words, the opening for you to put in and take out things is very small. Does this matter? Yes, if you have a laptop PC that measures diagonally 15.6 to 16 inches. The fit is snug, and because of the narrow opening, putting in and taking out a computer is not that smooth and easy. Although the zippers are plastic, there is a chance of them scraping against the computer's edges. I would not recommend this case if you have concerns about this aspect. If your computer is a netbook, which is about 10 inches diagonal, then this case will be fine. There is an USB thumb drive pocket in the main compartment, where the computer is stored, but I feel it is not a good location, because it is likely to chafe against the laptop computer. There are two side pockets. I use the larger one to store AC adapter, cord, mouse pad, and mouse. I deem this bag more suitable for carrying smaller laptops. It is not suitable for 15.6 to 16-inch laptops because of the tight fit. Update (2-4-2011): Case Logic has another 16-inch case that zipper opens three sides instead of just one. It is called Case Logic VNCi-116 Value 16-Inch Laptop Briefcase. It will easily fit any 16-inch notebook computer. Even my 17.3-inch HP DV7 can be accommodated in the case. Ung This laptop bag is very well padded inside that I almost wanted this bad for my cameras. The design looks very simple, yet the interior pockets and padding are very well made. Because of its cloth material, it feels little bit cheap, but then again it is very light. There is also enough room for two laptops, maybe one 13 inch Mac book Pro and a 10 inch Net book, with all the power blocks in the front pocket. There is an additional small pocket for a cell phone or other small accessories, and I liked this pocket a lot because it is easy to reach, not to mention its location is convenient. I could not find any cons about this bag, not only because it comes with a shoulder strap, but also because it has a "25 Years Quality Guarantee" stamp. I probably won't use this bag for 25 years, but it is good to know that the company guarantees its product. Also, if one prefers to use this bag for carrying light, thin books/notebooks for classes or conferences, this bad works well for this purpose as well. By Koala1356 The Caselogic VNA-210 is a nice little attache-style case for netbooks or other small electronics. It is constructed from lightweight nylon and polyester (not neoprene foam), and features a large device compartment and two front pockets for accessories. There is a decent amount of padding on the front and back of the main compartment for protection. The largest of the accessories pockets has internal pockets for a cellphone/mp3 player, usb flash drive, plus a couple of pen loops to keep it all organized. The vertical front pocket could only fit something small flat, as there is little-to-no gusset room here. A removable shoulder strap is also included. The attache design means that the zipper to the main compartment only opens to just around the top corners. Although the VNA-210 states it fits netbooks '7 inches to 10.2 inches', it does not fit all 10.1" netbooks, so make sure you measure first.
